10 Things Every Small Business Website Should Have
Whether you build it yourself or hire someone, these ten things decide whether visitors trust you and get in touch.
A good small business website doesn't need fancy animations or dozens of pages. It needs to answer a visitor's questions quickly and make it easy to contact you. Here are the ten things we check first on every site we build.
1. A headline that says what you do and where
"Welcome to our website" wastes your most valuable space. Try "Custom wedding cakes in Sialkot, delivered to your door". Visitors know in two seconds they're in the right place.
2. Phone and WhatsApp on every page
Put them in the header, not hidden on the contact page. On phones, make the number tappable so one tap starts a call or chat.
3. Real photos
Photos of your shop, your team and your work build more trust than stock images. Phone photos are fine if they're bright and in focus.
4. Reviews and proof
Show a few real reviews, ideally with names. Add client logos or "since 2018" if you have them. People trust what other customers say.
5. Clear services, and prices if you can
List what you offer in plain words. Even a "from" price filters out the wrong enquiries and gives serious customers confidence.
6. Fast on mobile
Most visitors arrive on a phone, often on mobile data. Compress your images and keep pages light.
7. The padlock (SSL)
Without HTTPS, browsers show "Not secure". Most hosting includes a free certificate.
8. An easy way to get in touch
A short form (name, phone, message) plus a WhatsApp button. Long forms put people off.
9. Your location and hours
An address, a map and opening hours, the same as on your Google Business Profile.
10. Basic SEO
A unique title and description for each page, one clear heading, and descriptive image text. It helps Google understand what each page is about.
